Kathy Anne Parsons passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday October 15 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Kathy was born November 7, 1965, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to her loving parents Donald and LaDene and a whole gaggle of older brothers and sisters. The baby of the family, she loved to joke that she was the youngest because her parents finally had the perfect child. She felt honored to grow up in such a musical and creative family.
Kathy loved to love people. Her catchphrase was "I love you more." She lived her life to care for others - with a soft heart and a sharp tongue. She loved her family, no bake cookies, Etta James, and butter. She loved her grandchildren most of all. Kathy would tell you she fulfilled her life's purpose when she became a grandma.
She is survived by her children Sam and Tessa Cates, her grandchildren Zackary, Buffy, and Aria Cates, and her siblings Donnie (Sharon) Parsons, JoAnne Christensen, DeeAnne Bush, Mike (Linda) Parsons, Bill (Tracy Morrison) Parsons, Jeff (Gale Phillips) Parsons, Tom Taylor, as well as her nephews Thomas (Heidi Kraay) Bush and Jayson (Nicole) Bush, and nieces Erica Wood and Joelene Phillips. She is also survived by 300 others who knew her and loved her as a mom, sister, or grandma.
She is preceded in death by her parents Don and LaDene Parsons, sister Cori Murphy, and her brother-in-law VW Bob Johnson.
Mom never wanted a funeral, but a true Kathy-style celebration will held in the spring. In the meantime, squeeze your grandkids and get your cancer screenings.
In lieu of flowers, please listen to "A White Sport Coat and A Pink Carnation" by Marty Robbins. She really hated that song and that's what she gets for leaving us so soon.
