Kathy Harris (Donaldson)
Kathy Harris passed away in Pocatello, Idaho April 11, 2013 at the age of 68 after battling cancer for the past several years. She was born July 7, 1944, in Pocatello, Idaho to Hernon and Nadyne Donaldson. After she graduated from Pocatello High School in 1962, she married John Harris in 1964. Kathy was a life-long resident of Pocatello and worked for JJ Newberry for several years merchandising and modeling. She later worked at JC Penny in marketing and merchandising. Among Kathy's passions, was window painting which began in junior high school and expanded into her sign and painting business through word-of-mouth to the point where she worked full-time in addition to working at JC Penny. During the Christmas season she would take 4 weeks' vacation from her day job to paint holiday cheer on business windows, typically painting 18 hours a day. She most enjoyed painting animated characters and was extremely skilled in painting, and was undeterred by snow storms and low temperatures. When clients asked her about cleaning the painting off after the holiday, she would say with a smile, “I don't do windows". She enjoyed traveling to Mexico and vacationing at Redfish Lake. She was an avid decorator especially for the holidays.
Kathy specifically requested that the family not have a funeral; but, she would rather encourage friends and family to spend time helping others in need. This final request represented the way Kathy lived her life. She is survived by her husband John, her son Scott (Sharla) of Coeur d'Alene her daughter Jamie Whitesell (Ed) of Seattle and three grandsons: Connor Harris, Chandler Harris, and Harris Whitesell. She is also survived by a sister Deanna Isaac of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
