Katelyn Mae Taylor was born February 6th, 2004, to Kyle Gates and Lana Mae Taylor in Pocatello, Idaho. Katelyn attended Wilcox Elementary, Hawthorne Middle School, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 2022. Her best friend was Harley Ann Lively who she met in elementary school and remained close with through the years. Jaylynn Kell was another close friend who Katelyn was in competitive dance with. Adam Pearcy was Katelyn’s long-distance boyfriend and truly one of her very best friends.
Katelyn participated in many extracurricular activities throughout the years, including Drama Club, LGBTQ Community/Club, Choir (Gate City Singers and Senior Choir), Sunrise Dance Academy, and for many years participated in SRD’s Haunt around Halloween. Katelyn loved dancing, singing, theatre, cosplay, drawing, crafting, camping, and so much more. One of Katelyn’s favorite opportunities was when her choir toured in Los Angeles, California in March 2022. Katelyn had a wonderful time and built many lasting friendships during that short time.
Katelyn has two siblings, Chantell Alexis and Cameron Kyle. Although there was a gap in age, Katelyn and her siblings were close and always had a fun time together, whether it be teasing their mom or joking with each other. They always made one another laugh. After the passing of their father Kyle Gates Taylor on November 20th, 2013; the family became even closer to each other. Kyle’s family Roberta (mom), Patty (sister), and Kevin (brother) were a very large part of Katelyn’s life from a young age. After Cameron married Cara Ann, her and Katelyn became close and shared a special sister-in-law bond. Katelyn was a wonderful and loving aunt to her nephew and niece, Ollie Kyle and Lillian Jean Taylor. They absolutely adored her and loved to spend time with her. Katelyn’s family and friends will miss her dearly and cherish the time they did have with her.
To Marisa Smellie - thank you for giving Katelyn the love of dance and performing.
To Linda Larsen - THank you for being Katelyn’s biggest supporter in dance and theatre. Linda never gave up on Katelyn, brought Katelyn out of her shell, and helped Katelyn achieve such radiant confidence.
To everyone who has donated to the family - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Katelyn’s family.
