June W. Shappart

d. January 11, 2017

June W Shappart, 80, passed away at a local care facility January 11, 2017. She was born June 18, 1936, to Frank and Wanda Whitworth at their family ranch in Chesterfield, Idaho. She was the 6 th of 7 children; 4 brothers, Louis, Raymond, Eugene "Gene", John "JT", and 2 sisters, Marise and Florence. June was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life she served in many capacities in the Primary, Young Women, Relief Society and as ward chorister. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for more than 50 years. Her most memorable moments were spent with Primary children and Young Women she made a special connection with. She is remembered by most as the vibrant teacher that taught them incredible lessons every Sunday. She had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and was always grateful for the Plan of Salvation. June graduated from North Gem high school in 1955, and married Richard Shappart on February 15, 1958. They had 3 children, Tamara, Todd and Tracy. They were later divorced. She was a hard worker and spent many years working at JC Penney, the Idaho Department Store and Blocks. After her divorce, she spent many years babysitting children, most of whom she considers extended family. She was always quick witted and brought a smile to everyone she came in contact with. June lived a very independent life and spent her time loving everyone around her. The job she loved most was being a mom and grandma. Her greatest treasures were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed supporting them in their various activities and loved the excitement of being a part of their lives. She was able to attend piano and dance recitals, soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, and football events through the years. In her final years, she was a resident at Brookdale Assisted Living. She was loved by everyone from the residents to those that cared for her. She loved serving people, and the residents at the facility were no different. She enjoyed helping others get back to their rooms, taking time to visit, or picking up items on her shopping trips. She loved the shopping trips, even if it was simply to go to the Dollar Store. June is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Wanda Whitworth; siblings, Louis Alder, Marise Geddes, Raymond Whitworth and Gene Whitworth; her oldest daughter, Sheila Shappart; granddaughter, Shantay Sparrow; and great-granddaughter, Darcee Sparrow. She is survived by her children, Tamara "Tammy" (Ken) Sparrow of Pocatello, Todd Shappart of Phoenix, Arizona and Tracy (Debbie) Shappart of Pocatello; grandchildren, Nickole (Matt) Romriell, Dallas (Bryn) Sparrow, Cody (Tessa) Sparrow, Chelsey (Taylor) Brown, Jammie Worthey, Jayce (Tawni) Howell, Derek (Britney) Howell, Dustin (Desirae) Howell, Brady (Nicole) Howell; great-grandchildren, Sheldon, Shelby, Alexis, Lucas, Shantae, Addison, Taylee, Payton, Lance, Brooke, Jaden, Trey, Mauri, Maci, McKeyan, Rhyan, Crew, Jax, Kailer, Saydee, Piper, Kendahl, Payton and Dhylan.
