June Susie Hayden

April 13, 1922 — March 24, 2014

June Susie Stott Hayden passed away March 24, 2014 at age 91. She was born April 13, 1922 in Sunnyside, Utah to William Edwin Stott and and Arilie Elvira Grant, the fourth of ten children. She grew up in various small towns in eastern Utah and graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, UT.

After graduation, she worked at a variety of jobs in Utah, including as a forklift operator at the ASF POW camp in Ogden. During this time she also enjoyed participating in dramatic productions and attending dances. It was for one of these dances that a friend set her up on a blind date with a Utah State student from Idaho named Ben Lynn Hayden. When Ben asked June out again she always had another date. Finally, he asked her how many boyfriends she had and her response was 999. Ever after, he signed letters and cards to her "1000th". They were married on February 24, 1951 and their marriage became eternal when they were sealed December 7, 1973 in the Provo, UT Temple.

June and Ben were blessed with six children: Ramona, Hans, Cid, Twain, Arlin and Brian. June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked hard managing two homes – one in Arbon and one in Pocatello. June was famous for her whole wheat bread and loved sharing it with those around her. She was a wonderful seamstress, designing and sewing clothes for herself, family and friends. She enjoyed quilting and her grandchildren enjoyed the forts they could create under the quilting frames. June was a good neighbor and friend, giving time, resources, and a listening ear to anyone in need.

June was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings, including as a Cub Scout den mother at the age of 82, and was a diligent visiting teacher. Her favorite calling was always as a primary teacher; she loved every child and for years made small "birthday" cakes for each child's baptism. After Ben passed away, June served a genealogy mission in Salt Lake City. After her return, she loved visits from her grandchildren and was especially happy when her sister, Vera, came to stay. The two of them would take on all kinds of projects from family history work to digging a large tree out of the yard by hand.

June is survived by: one daughter, Ramona Hazlett; five sons, Hans (Julie) Hayden, Cid (Donna) Hayden, Twain (Michele) Hayden, Arlin (Kathy) Hayden and Brian (Lori) Hayden; one sister, Vera Millet; two sister-in-laws, Rose Stott and Helen Stott; 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; a son-in-law, Don Hazlett; her parents, 7 brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter.

The family would like to express thanks to the caretakers at Caring Hearts Assisted Living, for the loving and skillful care given our mother over the last few months.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Mink Creek Ward Building, 8200 W. Portneuf Road.
