Julia Migdalia Valdivia Rodriguez, 88, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Julia was born on April 16, 1936, in Cabaiguán, Cuba, as the youngest of eight siblings, with three additional half-siblings. She spent her early years in her hometown before moving to the United States in 1995. After living in Boise, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah, she eventually settled in Pocatello, Idaho, where she spent the rest of her life.

In 1967, after 13 years of dating, Julia married the love of her life, Juan. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.

Julia had a deep appreciation for the ocean and found joy in relaxing by the shore. She was a talented seamstress who enjoyed designing and sewing clothing well into her early 70s. Traveling was one of her greatest passions, especially when accompanied by her daughters and family. She adored the mountains of Pocatello, often spending sunny days on her back porch, taking in the beauty around her.

Julia also loved visiting her hometown in Cuba, reconnecting with relatives and friends, and visiting the Presbyterian Church she once frequented.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Angelina, Luis’mother (Julia’s son-in-law), whom Julia loved dearly. Special thanks also go to Lucy and Jacob for their friendship, which meant more to her than words could express.

Julia is survived by her beloved daughters, Yolanda (Luis) of Pocatello, Idaho, and Floraly (Pedro M.) of Beaverton, Oregon; her grandchildren, Lucas of Denver, Colorado, Leo of Pocatello, Idaho, Chavelys of Miami, Florida, and Pedro E. of Bremerton, Washington; as well as nieces and nephews in Cuba.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Juan J. Rodriguez-Sosa, the love of her life.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 3583 Ridgewood Road, Pocatello, ID.

Julia nació el 16 de abril de 1936 en Cabaiguán, Cuba, como la menor de ocho hermanos, con tres medios hermanos adicionales. Pasó sus primeros años en su ciudad natal antes de mudarse a los Estados Unidos en 1995. Después de vivir en Boise, Idaho, y Salt Lake City, Utah, finalmente se estableció en Pocatello, Idaho, donde pasó el resto de su vida.

Viajar era una de sus grandes pasiones, especialmente cuando estaba acompañada por sus hijas y su familia. Adoraba las montañas de Pocatello y solía pasar días soleados en el porche trasero de su casa, admirando la belleza que la rodeaba.

A Julia también le encantaba visitar su ciudad natal en Cuba, reencontrarse con familiares y amigos y visitar la Iglesia Presbiteriana que alguna vez frecuentó.

La familia desea expresar su más sincero agradecimiento a Angelina, la madre de Luis (yerno de Julia), a quien Julia amaba mucho. Un agradecimiento especial también a Lucy y Jacob por su amistad, que significó más para ella de lo que las palabras podrían expresar.

A Julia le sobreviven sus queridas hijas, Yolanda (Luis) de Pocatello, Idaho, y Floraly (Pedro M.) de Beaverton, Oregon; sus nietos, Lucas de Denver, Colorado, Leo de Pocatello, Idaho, Chavelys de Miami, Florida, y Pedro E. de Bremerton, Washington; así como sobrinas y sobrinos en Cuba.

Le precedió en la muerte su devoto esposo, Juan J. Rodríguez-Sosa, el amor de su vida.

Se llevará a cabo un servicio conmemorativo a las 4:00 p. m. el sábado 22 de febrero de 2025 en 3583 Ridgewood Road, Pocatello, ID.
