Julia Byington

d. June 25, 2013

Julia Lorraine Marple Byington, 87, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at a local care center surrounded by family members. Julia was born July 13, 1925 daughter of Lloyd and Gertrude Marple in Saratoga, Wyoming. She attended Saratoga elementary and Saratoga High School. On July 3, 1946 Julia married Stanley Dean Byington. in Wapello, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Their union lasted 63 years until Stans passing in 2009. They lived in Blackfoot until 1961, and then moved to Pocatello where they spent the rest of their married lives. Together they had 5 children; Christine, David, Teressa, Ellice and Pam. Julia loved her family dearly and focused her time and attention on them. She was a stay at home mom until her older children were in school. Her husband, Stan taught dancing at Stan's Studio of Dance and she helped with the bookkeeping and sewed costumes for recitals. She also helped many students' mothers who couldn't get a costume to look quite right. Julia loved sewing, dancing, traveling, cooking, and entertaining friends and family. She always wanted to share a meal or special treat no matter how short the visit. Her family was always dressed nicely in outfits that she sewed for them. Julia was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and filled various callings over the years. She tried to instill Christian values in her childrens lives. All of her life she was a peace maker and usually had a solution to help smooth over disagreements. Julia worked throughout much of her life. She had been employed with Rowland's Dairy and Billmeyers Auto Parts. She worked as a bank teller, then managed the dress department at JC Penney's, and eventually accomplished her dream of opening her own dress shop. Julia's love and knowledge for fashion led her to own and manage Mode O' Day which later became Fashion Crossroads, in both Pocatello and Blackfoot. She later went on to open Julia's Personal Touch Fashions from which she retired in 1993. In her later years the joy of her life was her grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and giving them treats during their visits. Watching soccer games was a favorite pastime, even when some days she could only watch from the car. Besides her own grand children, many of the neighborhood children and grandchildren's friends considered her their grandma. She is survived by a sister Fern Ball, Ramona, California, her children, Christine (Brent) Fowler, Salt Lake City, UT, David (Mary) Byington, Pocatello, Idaho, Teresa Carroll, Nampa, Idaho, Ellice (Saeid) Rezaii, Pocatello, Idaho, Pam (Kerry) Draper, Meridian, Idaho, 15 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
