Judy D. Barker

January 20, 1951 — December 16, 2016

Judith Dyer was born to noble parents on January 20th, 1951 at Oceanside, Long Island, New York, while her father was attending law school at NYU.

She was raised in a loving home in Salt Lake City, Utah with seven siblings. She graduated from Olympus High School and obtained a degree in nursing from BYU, becoming a Registered Nurse. This career path provided a way to fulfill her need to be of service to others, which she always did with kindness and compassion.

She spent most of her nursing career working at LDS Hospital in the Respiratory ICU, Cardiac, and Trauma units. She travelled with the transport team to bring patients from rural areas by fixed-wing aircraft to the larger facility. She was also a knowledgeable nursing instructor at Weber State College.

She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and many other kinds of crafts. She played the cello in orchestras and in small groups. The highlight of her musical experiences was singing with the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus, during which she was always appreciative of the opportunity to perform in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Many treasured friendships remain from those experiences, including future husband Brian.

Brian and Judy were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 7, 1984. They raised their three sons in Pocatello, Idaho, where they moved in October, 1991.

Judy served in the Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society organizations of the LDS Church.
Her greatest joy has been seeing the successes of her sons. She leaves a legacy of service to others, unwavering faith, and constant love for the Lord.

She completed her earthly mission at home with patience and quiet dignity on December 16, 2016.

Members of the family include devoted husband of 32 years, Brian, wonderful sons and daughters-in-law: Brett (Marie Vega), Heyburn, ID; Matthew (Catherine Cessna and their son Theodore), and Gregory, Pocatello, ID; and constant pet companion, Penny.

The Dyer siblings: Patricia (Richard E.) Bennett, Orem, UT; Deanna (John) Hartvigsen, Louise Elliott, Susan Petersen, Linda (John) Elieson, Robert Dyer, Jr., Salt Lake City, UT; and Richard (Erin) Dyer, Idaho Falls, ID.

She has been preceded in death by her parents Robert M. Dyer, Mildred Richards Dyer, and brother-in-law David Elliott.
