Judy Carol Martin

November 17, 1939 — November 17, 2022

Judy Carol (Andersen) Martin, 83, passed away quietly and peacefully in her home on November 17, 2022.

Born November 17, 1939, in Silverton, Oregon, Judy was the daughter of Elven Andersen and Barbara (Schneider) Anderson, later Mesenbrink.

Judy married the love of her life, Ron Martin, of Eagle, Idaho, March 23, 1959. They were married 46 years before she lost Ron to cancer in 2005. She missed him every day of those 17 years.

Judy and Ron moved from Boise to Pocatello with their 2-year-old daughter Ronda in 1961. In 1963, a second daughter, Gaylene, arrived and Janene in 1968, thus, completing the family of five.

Judy was a devoted mother, and later grandmother, to her six grandchildren and subsequently eight great-grandchildren. She was a caregiver for her mom in her later years until she passed away at the age of 99. Judy was also a loyal friend to many, reaching out and visiting them in nursing homes and their own homes when they were unable to get out. She had a genuine compassion for others.

Judy enjoyed gardening and passed this love on to some of her grandchildren. She enjoyed the comradery of the Red Hat lunch group, along with her friends at water aerobics several times a week. She was an active member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Pocatello, where she felt loved and cared for. Judy could often be seen around her neighborhood walking her little dogs. Most recently, Sammy, and then Dooley.

Judy is survived by her sisters Jan Kapalczynski and Gayle Alkaisy, sisters-in-law Betty Mesenbrink and Carol Martin, three daughters Ronda (Hal) Hatfield, Gaylene (Tony) Warth, and Janene Martin; her 6 beloved grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, her little dog Dooley, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Herb Mesenbrink, husband Ron Martin, and brothers Frank and LaVern Mesenbrink, and sister Arlene Zagone.

Per Judy’s wishes, she will be cremated and buried next to Ron at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will plan for a celebration of life at Good Shepard Church in the spring so family from out of town can make plans to travel.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:00 am the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 215 N 18th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201 with a brunch to follow.  Interment will take place at Restlawn Cemetery on the same day at 2:00 pm.
