Judith Holt

d. November 4, 2014

Judith Corinne Holt, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. She was born October 30, 1935 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Milo and Pearl Miller. She was baptized into the family of God on December 8, 1935. She spent the early years in Wyoming and later moved with her family to Denver, Colorado where she attended grade school and high school. With aspirations to further her education she attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas where she met the love of her life, Thomas. They were married in 1956 and she decided to forgo graduating to focus on starting and raising a family. The two spent their early family years in a few different cities in the Midwest, where they had their first two children, Keri and Kris. When life took them to Billings, Montana, where Tom was hired to teach, Judy decided to finish her education and graduated from Eastern Montana State College. Again the urge to move came and the family relocated to Boise, Idaho where their third child, Kurtis was born. The family made one more move to a small farm in Summerville, Oregon where they lived for 32 years raising their children and becoming a part of the community and church. Judy and Tom's final move was to Pocatello, Idaho where they could be closer to her daughter and the needed medical support for Tom. Along the way Judy was able to leverage her college education and became a grade school teacher. Through this she was able to make a long lasting impact to many kids in the communities' that she lived. Judy loved spending time with family and friends and supported her kids, grandkids and husband through many different activities and hobbies. They tended to revolve around sports, outdoors and horses. As the kids and grandkids grew up, many hours were spent rooting them on as they participated in all different school activities and sports, this included theater, cheerleading, volleyball, soccer, football, ice hockey and basketball. Her husband, on the other hand, had an interest in raising horses and dabbled in raising race horses and mules. Judy was always a proud sister, mother, grandmother and wife, giving her devoted time to the interests of her family. Later in life she and her husband were blessed to travel to many places which included trips to the Caribbean, Alaska and finally Sweden. She continued to keep the family close by also helping to put together family gatherings in Idaho, Maui and on a family cruise. In addition, she was able to spend a significant amount of time with her loving sister, Marilyn. The two of them were always like a couple of young school girls enjoying time together. Judy was always true to her roots and continued to carry on the Swedish traditions that she and her husband had been raised with. This included pickling the herring, making Ostakaka and soaking the Lutefisk for the annual Christmas feast for family, church and friends. She truly was a loving mother, grandmother and wife and can best be described as an angel in training. While in Pocatello, Judy was an active member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. God and her faith were an important part of her life. She treasured volunteering at the Portneuf Medical Cancer Center and gift shop where her kindness lifted spirits and touched many hearts. Judy knew how to light up a room. She also loved to go line dancing, play bridge with the ladies, and making Swedish pancakes for her grandchildren. Judy is survived by her daughter, Keri (Randy) Fowler of Pocatello, Idaho; sons, Kris (Vicki) Holt of Austin, Texas and Kurtis (Lisa) Holt of Pocatello, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Corinne, Katrice, Lucas, Domenic, Wyatt, Sarah, Olivia and Emmett; and sister, Marilyn (Kenneth) Sjogren of Lindsborg, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Holt, father, Milo Miller, and mother, Pearl Miller. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to all those who prayed for Judy and thank you for your unending support.
