Joyce Cleo Allison Luebbe; loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed in her home of 70 years on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, just shy of her 88th birthday.
Joyce was born Nov. 19, 1936 to Earl and Verla Hulet. She was the oldest of 9 children. They all grew up in a modest home on North 9th Ave in Pocatello.
As a teen Joyce worked at the soda fountain of Albertson’s, where a handsome Dennis Dean Allison would come in and flirt with the petite Joyce. They were married June 8th, 1954 and shortly after moved into their home of South 9th Ave where Joyce lived until her passing. Joyce and Dennis raised 5 children; Joydean Allison Sorensen (Gary Sorensen), Steven Lee Allison (Carla Rodriquez Allison), Dennis Gene Allison (Diana Longoria Allison), Russell Kent Allison and Cynthia Allison- Billmeyer (James Bacigalupi). She taught her children kindness, generosity of spirit and gave them the confidence to walk to school and out into the world.
On summer weekends, she and Dennis would pack the family into the dodge van and head to Twin Lakes for waterskiing and camping. Joyce spent most of her life being a loving caregiver to her siblings, her children, and her terminally ill husband Dennis and later her terminally ill partner Arnold Luebbe, whom she married June 25th, 1988.
Joyce retired at age 60 from Farmers Insurance, and preferred to spend her time with her family, close friends, and her beloved dogs throughout the years. She loved her four grandchildren, Kirsten VanDeventer (Kyle VanDeventer), Megan Sorensen (Tiffany Sorensen), Andre Allison (Sydney Allison), and Allison Billmeyer. She watched over every stage of their lives and delighted in their growth, talents, and kindness. Joyce’s life got a little sweeter with the addition of two great-grandchildren, twins Rowan, and Harlow Sorensen who were born on their great grandma’s birthday.
Joyce’s legacy is her incredible kindness, fairness, and loving non-judgmental spirit. She loved her in- laws just as if they were her own children.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Verla Hulet, husband, Dennis Dean Allison, husband, Arnold Luebbe, brother, Robert Hulet, sister, Ruby Brown, son in law, Kurt Conrad Billmeyer, and nephew, Joey Nafus.
The family welcomes you to celebrate her life. Wear something PINK to celebrate Joyce.
We would like to thank Symbii Home Health and Hospice, and Comfort Home Care, especially Emma Dowding for helping us honor Joyce’s wishes of passing away in her home.
Joyce loved dogs. If you would like to make a small donation to the Pocatello Animal Shelter in her name, that would be lovely.
