Joyce Elaine Cherry Fleharty, 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at home from natural causes. Joyce was born in Rose, Idaho and move to Blackfoot, Idaho early on. She later moved to the Tyhee area. She attended Pocatello High School until she married. She had four brothers, Keith, Gene, Glen, and Dennis. Her father, Jesse, worked for the railroad and her mother, Mabel, worked as a cafeteria cook at Tyhee Elementary School. Joyce married Merlin Eugene Southworth in 1948, they were later divorced. She then married Bernard Charles Fleharty in 1967 and they also later divorced. She worked as a grocery checker at Neiders Store in Tyhee, she then worked for Okays Food Center for 30 years before retiring due to her health. Joyce belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she was camp director for 60 years, she was the president of Jaycetts, and was in the literary guild where she entertained members with her dramatic and comedic readings. She was a member of the LDS church. Joyce enjoyed golfing, bowling, china painting, oil painting, crocheting and quilting. She frequently was asked to give dramatic and comedic readings for several organizations. Joyce is survived by her son, Steven E. (Lynn) Southworth of Pocatello, Idaho; daughters, Teresa M. (Mike) Robbins of Garland, Utah, Marsha Jo Brooks of Pocatello, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Jenny Cherry and Gloria Cherry both of Pocatello, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Delonzo Cherry; mother, Mabel Eliza Ward Cherry; brother, Harold Eugene (Gene) Cherry; brother and sister-in-law, Glen Devere (Ila) Cherry; brother, Seth Dennis Cherry; brother and sister-in-law, Jesse Keith (Doris) Cherry; niece, Linda Jones; and nephews, Randy Cherry, and Loni Cherry. A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID, with Graveside Services following, starting at 2 pm, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
