Joy Marie (Morris) Ranstrom, 72, went to be with Jesus on March 8, 2025. Her family surrounded her as she left peacefully in her sleep.
Joy was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on October 26, 1952, to Layton and Pauline Morris. She was their youngest daughter, one of six children.
Joy attended school in American Falls, Idaho, where she graduated in 1971. She was also a regular attendee of the Assembly of God church in American Falls. The following year, she met and married the one and only love of her life, Larry Dean Ranstrom. A few years later, they had two children, Wendy and Randy.
Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Layton and Pauline Morris, a brother, Johnny Morris, and a sister, Florene Steen. Joy is survived by her husband, Larry Ranstrom; children Wendy (Joshua) Burrup and Randy Ranstrom, grandchildren Colter (Bailey) Fry, Jaxon Hoopes, Dylan Ranstrom, Pacia Burrup, Gracie Burrup, Garrett Burrup, and Zeke Ranstrom; siblings: Lorene (David) Zimmerman, Linda (Jim) Jacobsen, Ricky (Kathy) Morris, brother-in-law Jim Steen and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family.
Joy was the best wife, mother, and grandma. She was always the first to meet the needs of anyone who called on her. Joy had a beautiful way of making people feel special. She gave her time, effort, and, most of all, love. She would take her grandchildren on birthday dates to make them feel special, which gave them memories they will never forget. Joy always loved sunflowers and could never pass up some Cheetos.
Joy is leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and forgiveness. Even when the dementia was taking her precious time and memories, she never forgot the Lord. She knew she was going to Heaven. She loved quickly, fiercely, and without hesitation. We find reassurance in knowing she is at peace and no longer confused or hurting. We will miss her presence, but we know that we will rejoin Joy in Heaven, where she is celebrating with Jesus and free of confusion and pain. We give all the praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. I love you, Mom.
