Joseph W. Bradshaw, age 80, of Ely, Nevada, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 after a short stay at the Idaho State Veterans Home. He was born on March 19, 1942 in Greenville, Utah to Collis and Verle Bradshaw, the eldest of 6 children. Joe could always be found riding horses, working the farm, or teasing his 5 younger sisters. He graduated from Beaver High School where he excelled in track and football. Joe loved music and shared his talent often throughout his life, many times entertaining around the campfire with his guitar and clear, strong voice.
Joe met the love of his life and forever partner, Nona Belle Applegate, in the spring of 1961 and they enjoyed a courtship on horseback. They were married in the St. George Temple on September 8, 1961. Joe and Nona were blessed with 3 loving children: Cindy, Scott and Malinda. The family could always be found enjoying the outdoors whether from the back of a horse, the seat of a motorcycle, or just the quiet of a Sunday night campfire.
Joe enlisted at age 17 and served 44 years in the Military Reserves. He served as a Deputy Sheriff with Tooele County Utah for 26 years. He was an avid hunter whose hunts took him from Beaver, Utah to as far away as Alaska, Canada, and even Africa. He was a champion marksman, gunsmith, and a competitive cowboy. Joe was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions throughout his life.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patsy. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Nona Bradshaw; children, Cindy Jordan, Scott (Traci) Bradshaw, Malinda (Boyd) Parker; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Webb, Marilyn (Brent) Baldwin, Janet (Robert) Douglas, Suzanne (Donald) Mortensen.
We are so grateful for his example of strength and service, as well as his love of family and the outdoors. We will miss his big laugh, his sense of humor, and the joy he brought to our lives. We will try our best to honor his love of God, Country, and Family in all that we do.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, the 6th of May, 2022 at 11:00 am in Greenville, Utah.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
