Joseph Maravilla, 32, of Pocatello, passed away in his home on February 13, 2017. Joe was born January 27, 1985 in Pocatello, the son of Darrel and Kita (Hopkins) Maravilla. Joe graduated from Pocatello High School in 2003. Following graduation, he obtained an Associate of Arts while playing baseball for Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, OR. In 2016 he was awarded his Associate of Science Degree from Idaho State University as a Licensed Practical Nurse and recently employed by the Pocatello Womens Correctional Center and Portneuf Medical Center. Joe is remembered by his amazing sense of humor, warm laugh, wit, and infectious personality. Most importantly, he was known for being an exemplary father to his beloved daughter, Macy (11), whom he shared with former spouse, Jeannie McNeese. The two have been undeniable best friends and he is a shining example to all fathers. They often enjoyed the movie theater, great restaurants, traveling, or any combination of the three! He is also remembered as a fierce competitor and talented athlete. He participated in High School and Legion baseball, and wrestling. Following High School, he was recruited to play for Treasure Valley Community College, where he excelled as a pitcher. In recent years, he has impacted many young athletes through coaching at Pocatello High School. Joe was known for his close bond to his parents, siblings, and friends where he would often be the center of everyones laughter. He was often quoting movie lines, telling jokes, or singing to Michael Jackson. He frequently would fish and hunt with family and friends, ensuring there was never a dull moment. Joe especially loved traveling to places such as Las Vegas or Hawaii, all while eating great food, and sharing his humor with those who surrounded him. He survived by his beloved daughter, Macy; parents, Darrell and Kita Maravilla; sister, Erica (David) Christensen; brother, Nathan (Melanie) Maravilla; sister, Raquel Maravilla; grandparents, Jerry and Nola Hopkins; grandmother, Bertha Maravilla; and several extended aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Joe Maravilla; and aunt, Jean Harris. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11 am at the LDS West Stake Chapel, 3444 Hawthorne Rd. Pocatello, ID (Hawthorne & Eldredge) with a viewing for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204.
