Jolene Newby

August 24, 1937 — May 23, 2010

Vera Jolene Beckstead was born on August 24th 1937 at the family farm in Niter, Idaho to Charles Frances Beckstead and Rose Lucine Adams. She passed away at the age of 72 on May 23rd 2010 in Pocatello, Idaho at a local healthcare facility after a long courageous battle with Addison's Disease, Diabetes and other debilitating illnesses.

The youngest of eight children she attended schools in Grace, Idaho where she participated in choir and played drums and the French horn in the band. While attending a music clinic in Pocatello, Idaho at the age of 14, she met and fell in love with Wayne F. Newby. She continued her education and graduated from Grace High School in 1955. After graduation she moved to Pocatello and lived with her Aunt and Uncle, Grover and Annie Chatterton. She was employed at the Mountain Bell Company as a phone operator. In 1955 Wayne proposed to her and they were married February 3, 1956 for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with five children, four daughters and one son; Jolynn (Douglas Larsen), Brenda Stowell, Lisa Hill, Brit Wayne Newby (Sonia), and Kris Van Orden. They have 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

During her lifetime she was active in her church with several callings in the Primary, Young Women's, and as the Relief Society president. Later she fulfilled one of her goals by serving in the North Carolina Raleigh Mission with her loving husband and best friend. After returning they spent the next 10 years traveling south for the winter and enjoying retired life together.

She was a very talented artist and loved to paint. She enjoyed camping, spending time at their mountain and cherished being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 3 grandchildren.

Thanks to those who cared for her in her time of need and all those cherished friends that touched her life.
