Johnny R. E. Lynch

December 6, 1939 — April 28, 2023

Johnny Robert Earl Lynch of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully at Alpine Meadows on April 28, 2023, at the age of 83. Born December 6, 1939 in Attica, Indiana to Katherine Marie and Robert Floyd Lynch and raised in Idaho by his mother and step-father Henry Wilkinson.

He graduated from Buhl High School in 1959. In high school, he was part of the Army ROTC program and joined the United States Army Reserves and served for 6 years after high school. He met his wife, Patricia Ann Pattan, while attending Idaho State University. Married on August 26, 1972, and raised their 4 children in a house he built. He worked for the FMC Corporation for 33 years. He was a member of the Central Christian church and served as an elder. Pat passed away in 1995. He was blessed with nine grandchildren and a great grandson.

In 1974, he joined the Mount Kinport Masonic Lodge #95 after asking his father-in-law, Howard Pattan, about his lodge meeting. Johnny found his passion and earned his Master Mason, 32nd degree. He served as Worshipful Master for both the Mt. Kinport Lodge and the Malad Lodge #51. He was a member of the Shriners Clown Unit, Shriners, Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and water skiing and this led to his service in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He bowled with the FMC mixed league and snow skied in the winter months.

He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, his entertaining stories, his unfailing work ethic, and doing things his own way. He will be deeply missed.

Johnny is survived by his loving children, Launa Lynch, Lynnette (Keith) Barker, John Lynch, Michael (Stephanie) Lynch, his two sisters, Aleen Shearer, and Norma Jean McGuire, numerous nieces, and nephews, seven grandchildren, and a great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Henry Wilkinson, Robert Lynch, his brother Howard Lynch, two grandchildren, Krista and Caleb Lynch and a niece Sharane Jepson.

The family wishes to thank Alpine Meadows Assisted Living Facility for taking care of Johnny in his final years. He enjoyed living there and partaking in the activities and joking with the staff. Thank you to his Masonic and Eastern Star families for supporting him throughout his lifetime and providing his funeral rites.
