“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8) Johnny always held this verse close to his heart and his wife and two daughters were witness to his exit from this earth to be with his Savior.
Johnny was born in Roseburg, Oregon on October 3, 1948 to Jim and Marcy Johnson. He has one sibling, an older sister, who is dear to him and also named Marcy. As a young child the family moved to Hemet, California where Johnny grew up and graduated high school. His younger years were spent surfing the California coast, playing baseball, and playing his electric guitar in a band. In his early 20’s he was lucky enough to find the love of his life and forever soul mate, Patty, who he married and this December will celebrate 50 wonderful years together! In 1980 they had their first daughter, Allison and welcomed her younger sister, Jodi Lynn, 3 years later. Johnny’s daughters, their husbands, and all four of his grandkids meant the world to him.
Johnny and Patty were the owners of Idaho Business Systems in both Pocatello and in Idaho Falls and served these communities for nearly 40 years before retiring and selling their business 5 years ago. Johnny’s passion for Jesus reflected in so many aspects of his life there are far too many to list. One of his most recent joys was serving as the President of the Pocatello Gideon’s Organization and passing out Bibles to this entire community. He always said “if he passed out a thousand Bibles and even one person came to know Jesus, it was all worth it” Johnny’s heart was truly on fire for God and it never wavered. Galatians 5: 22-23 tells us that a person that truly lives with the Holy Spirit will possess nine attributes which include; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. According to his loving family and all who knew him, he sincerely encompassed them all. He is so loved and is already so dearly missed. Rest in paradise Johnny, Dad, and Grandpa. 🤍
