John Patrick O'Neill

December 15, 1944 — April 8, 2020

John Patrick O'Neill, "Johnny", age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 8th, 2020.

Johnny was born in Manchester, Connecticut on December 15, 1944. He lived there for about 20 years. He is the son of the late Thomas J. O'Neill and Mary Margaret (Peggy) O'Neill. He has one daughter, Jacklene Hutcheson, her husband John and son Tyler, of New York.

Johnny is also survived by his brother Thomas "Butch" O'Neill, and his wife Denise, of Danielson, CT, and his sister Peggy Heon of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews including his godson Jerome (Rusty) Chemerka of Willington, CT. Johnny was preceded in death by his sister Sheila Chemerka of Bolton, CT, brother Raymond O'Neill of Stonington, CT.

For many years, Johnny traveled throughout the United States working at many race tracks as a horse trainer. That was a job he truly loved. He eventually settled in Pocatello, Idaho.

AT 16 years old he held a Golden Glove Boxing Title in the Connecticut Region. Johnny boxed for many years under his father's training skills, which later in life lead to volunteering as a boxing trainer himself for young adults in Idaho.

Johnny truly loved his Irish/Scottish Heritage and was very proud of the O'Neill family name.

He will sadly missed, with his beautiful red hair, amazing blue eyes and his witty humor

Following his wishes, Johnny will be cremated. He will be taken back to Connecticut to be buried with his parents.
