John Mitchell Greer

June 29, 1969 — April 12, 2022

John Mitchell Greer “Mitch”, 52, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away on April 12th2022 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin of Multiple Myeloma. Mitch bravely took every treatment offered for Myeloma in hopes to have more time with his family and friends.

Mitch was born on June 29th, 1969 to Gary and Linda Greer, giving Jeff the title of older brother. The family lived in several places while Mitch was growing up including Morris, Illinois, New Canaan, Connecticut, and the place he most referred to as home growing up, Soda Springs, Idaho.

Mitch graduated from Soda Springs High School. In 1992, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Idaho. In 2005, he received his Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from Idaho State University. In 1997, Mitch founded Rocky Mountain Engineering and Surveying(RMES). He grew a very successful business and enjoyed making long lasting friendships with his employees and clients. Mitch always made mention that the success of RMES came from his employees and faithful clients. He received many awards including The Young Engineer of the Year in 2000 from the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers and Idaho State University’s Professional Achievement Award in 2016.

Mitch not only gave service to his profession, but to the community as well. The Bengal Foundation, The Chamber of Commerce, and Math Counts were a few of his favorites.

In September of 2003 Mitch married Tiffany Sasser. Later they added Alex, Drew, and Jase to their family.

Mitch enjoyed coaching his boys’ sports teams. He taught them to golf, ski, and play basketball. Attending Utah Jazz games became a family favorite. One of Mitch’s favorite past times was golfing with his friends. The Greer household was full of love, laughter and rarely quiet. It is filled with boys, cousins, friends, family, and any pets Mitch and the boys could convince Tiffany to take in.

Mitch is survived by his wife Tiffany, three sons Alex, Drew, and Jase, his mother Linda Greer, brother Jeff Greer, mother in law Cyndi Colaianni, father in law Adrian (Peggy) Sasser, sister in law Andria (Doug) Wiebe, brother in law Nick (Jacci) Sasser, five special nephews and one special niece, and his beloved dog Layla. He also leaves behind his RMES family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father Gary Greer.

The family is thankful for the special care given to Mitch from Portneuf Medical Center, Portneuf Cancer Center, and Frodert Medical College and Cancer Center in Wisconsin.
