Our dear loved one and friend, John McLaughlin, 70, passed away due to cancer, November 9, 2013,at his home with Mursell McLaughlin by his side. John was born in Seward, Nebraska in 1943 and raised in Hasting, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Agricultural Business. After graduating, he ran a farm rental business and raised livestock. He was a master mechanic and had a passion for the racing industry. He worked in the pit crew for such drivers as Richard Childress in the early days of NASCAR Racing in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the early 70s he raced late model stock cars in the U-SAC Midgets National Circuit in Central Nebraska. John moved to Jackson, Wyoming in 1970. He ran the Jackson Service Center where he was an owner/operator. In 1978 he met Mursell, his life-long partner, who supported his interest in racing. In the late 70's and 80's John raced high power snow machines all over the western United States and ran for state championships. He thought one of his most notable achievements in racing was being the first to win the King of the Mountain World championship snowmobile race up Snow King Mountain in Jackson, Wyoming. John is survived by his love of 35 years Mursell McLaughlin, Pocatello, a brother Tom McLaughlin and a sister Kathleen Burt both of Cleveland Ohio, a stepson Edward Bruno and a grand- daughter, Nicole Bruno of Fresno, Calif. John also leaves 5 nieces & 1 nephew, and many Friends and his dog Edmond. John was preceed in death by his parents John Thomas McLaughlin and his mother Charlotte Elizabeth Tempel McLaughlin. The family would like to express a special thanks to Encompass Home Hospice for their tender care of John prior to his passing. A memorial services will be announced at a later date to be held in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello.
