John Keith Dawson

March 7, 1945 — October 21, 2021

John Keith Dawson was born March 7th, 1945, in Pocatello, ID to Mary Eloise Christman and Lester Stanley Dawson. Keith contracted Spinal Meningitis at a very young age that caused him to go deaf and have some mental limitations. He lived his life with child-like innocence even as an adult. He was the light of his mother’s life and she loved him dearly. After his parent’s passing, he went to live the remainder of his life with his brother Stanley E. Dawson and sister-in-law Juliana Dawson. They lovingly cared for him for over thirty-five years.

Keith was an inspiration to everyone that encountered him. He had the sweetest spirit and was always seen smiling or laughing. He loved everyone he met. He enjoyed playing games. Our family fondly remembers our childhood with Keith playing tag, checkers, card games, and him pretending to be a monster and entertaining us for hours. Keith also enjoyed writing, coloring, drawing, and putting puzzles together. He was sensitive and kind and always worried if someone was sad. If you were lucky enough to be seated by him on a car ride, he would nudge you every few minutes and point to something random in the scenery on the way. The world was always a wonder to him, and he found even the smallest things fascinating.

Keith loved the Savior and was always praying for other people, never for himself. His sweet spirit was called home to his Heavenly Father on October 20, 2021. It gives our family great peace and comfort in knowing that Keith can now hear, and his mind and body have been made whole again. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Stanley E. Dawson and sister Betty Thompson who will be there in Heaven to welcome him home with open arms. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Nelson, his sister-in-law Juliana Dawson, and many loving nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. We will be having a private family graveside service for him.
