John Kahl "Jake" Gubler

John Kahl "Jake" Gubler, 36, passed away at Portneuf Medical Center on Monday, February 10, 2020 from natural causes. He was born on July 31, 1983 in Pocatello and attended schools in American Falls. Jake married his soul mate and best friend Brittany on July 20, 2019. John and his son share the same birthday on July 31st. Jake received his 1st gifted kidney transplant by his loving father at the age of six years old, that precious gift lasted for 19 years. His second transplant happened at the age of 33 years old in 2016 and was gifted by Cassie Pope, and without Cassies' gift, Jake would have never met Brittany and then be able to have their son Bodie. Jake was a cowboy at heart and shared a special bond with his dad. They enjoyed horses, Elk Hunting, packing trips and Chariot Racing, they rode motorcycles together, fly fished, and floated the South Fork regularly. His mother has been his Rock throughout his life. She has been at his side for every medical procedure. Jake and his mom partnered in their business together and named it Hard Ride Leather, which was located on north main. This was a dream and goal that came to be prior to his unfortunate passing. They started their business because Jake made leather bracelets out of his grandpas belt and the business took off from there. They also made numerous other leather products. He loved being with his friends and family and had a very generous heart and would help any stranger in need. Example: He would give one of his creations to someone that really liked it even if they couldnt afford it. Towards the end Jake was blessed with a determination to fight his battle longer, because he so wanted to be here for Brittany and Bodie. He had a special friendship with Dr. Fahim Rahim, he was very grateful to him for the care he was given, as well as the new found friendship. Jake is survived by his wife, Brittany; sons, Bodie Gubler and Jayden & Dylan Spence; mother, Kellie (Randy Fulmer); grandma, Florence Gunderson; sister, Ricki Gubler; mother-in-law, Gaynelle Dixon(Rick); father-in-law, Curt Knapp (Jennifer); sister-in-law, Lydnsey Anderson (Brady); brother-in-law, Derek Knapp (Stephine); niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Beau Bosworth; aunt, Wendy Farnsworth (Alan); uncles, Cary and Kahl Gubler, Alan Gunderson; cousins, Eric and Jenna Gubler, Ryan Gubler, and Chelsey Fransworth (Adam). He was preceded in death by his father, John J Gubler; grandpas, Kahl Gubler, Gary Gunderson and Deon Gubler. Heart felt appreciation to the following: Dr. Fahim Rahim, Jan and Byron Roan, Lloyd and Mary Pope, Nicki Chopski, Russell Davis and his Dialysis Family and for those we might not have mentioned. There will be a Life Celebration for Jake at Liberty Hall located at 325 West Benton Street in Pocatello on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm, please come join us in memory of this wonderful man.
