John Ernest Selders

November 16, 1948 — January 14, 2023

John was born November 16, 1948, to Ernest C. and Glenda M. (Schneider) Selders in Pocatello, Idaho.

He attended Pocatello public schools, graduating in 1967 from Highland High School. He attended Idaho State University for one year before joining the US Air Force in 1969. During his enlistment, he received an award for sharp shooing – 69 out of 70.

John liked sports, and started out by playing Little League Baseball, and later enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He became a pipefitter, following in his brother Curt’s footsteps. He worked at different sites until his disability retirement.

After the death of his father, he did yard work and other chores to help his mother in her home.

John was preceded in death by his father, Ernest C. Selders, brother Curt Selders, sister-in-law Annette Selders, and nephews Joey Selders and Joshua Selders.

He is survived by his mother Glenda Selders, Pocatello; brother Gary (Jill) Selders, Caldwell, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews: Sarah Anderson, Alexandria, Virginia; Kent (Evelyn) Selders, Pocatello; Gina (Kyle) Moon, Boise, Idaho; Eric (Trish) Selders, Boise, Idaho; Sunnie (Aaron) Selders, Boise, Idaho; Hunter (Lance) Larsen; Joey (Courtney) Morris, Everett, Washington.

As per his wishes, John was cremated. He will be laid to rest with his father on January 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery with Reverent Roger Bray officiating.

John’s family would like to express their gratitude to the team at Portneuf Medical Center, Monta Vista Hills Nursing Home, and neighbors Craig and Glenda Hall for the care and concern they have offered during this time.
