John E Murray

John Edward Murray was born December 19, 1928 in Viking, Minnesota to George and Ethel (Sinclair) Murray. He passed away Aug 30, 2023at his home in Pocatello, Idaho.

John grew up with his four brothers in rural Minnesota. They moved to Idaho in the early 1940’s for George to work on the railroad.

He married Donna Lou Dunn on February 10, 1950 and was sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on December, 27, 1994.They had four children: Douglass John Murray (Connie) Clinton, Utah, Troy Lynn Murray (Diane) Pocatello, Idaho, Bradley Jay Murray (Mary) Highland, Utah, and Jolene Steinfeldt Pocatello, Idaho.

John joined the Navy in January of 1946 and served for almost two years. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years as a brakeman and conductor.

John and Donna loved to travel in their fifth wheel trailer and have been to many of the national parks and sites around the United States. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He bought property and built his own home up Mink Creek where he lived for 55 years.

John loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11 am at the LDS church, 8200 W. Portneuf Rd. Pocatello, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services.

Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5th Avenue Pocatello, ID.
