Joe Allen "Al Joe" Richardson was born and raised in Louisville, KY. He graduated with an A.S. degree from Berea College in 1970. In 1973, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1988. After his term of service, Joe worked as a civilian mechanic on the naval base in Coronado, CA until his retirement in 2009.
Joe married Ida Morse in 1991. They were married for 27 years until his passing.
Joe loved to write poetry, watch basketball, and play chess and backgammon. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner. His favorite movie was "The Shawshank Redemption," which he watched numerous times. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
