Jody Morgan Mitchell

November 6, 1951 — August 9, 2015

Jody Morgan Mitchell was born on November 6, 1951, to Dean and Bernita Morgan, who adored their beautiful little dimpled darling. Tragically, Bernita died in 1956, leaving Jody and her little sister, Mona Kay, but not before showing them how much she loved them. Jody cherished her memories of her mother throughout her life. Jody died peacefully at home on Monday, August 10, 2015.

Jody was raised in Pocatello, Idaho. Jody married Jerry Meyers in 1969, and they had two boys, Brady and Justin. Jody and Jerry later divorced.

Jody married Don Mitchell in 1985, and became a second mom to his son, Ross Mitchell. Don and Jody shared a life together of traveling and camping. One of Jody's favorite places on earth was Stanley, Idaho and the Sawtooth Mountains.

Jody had several jobs over the years: teacher's aide at Tendoy Elementary School, Sales Rep for Wrigley's Gum, Sales Rep for Zee Medical, and the job she loved the most was when she and Don managed the Flying B Ranch on the Middle Fork. Those years brought her great joy, because she got to spend the summer with Don and the Boys. Jody was the cook for the Flying B, and a wonderful cook she was. Don was a guide/outfitter for the Flying B. Jody had many wonderful experiences during that time, but two were particularly exciting, and that is when she shot 3 bears.

Jody always had a smile on her face, and was the life of the party. Jody loved her friends and family, and made a point of always remembering special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries, and made homemade cards for each occasion. Receiving those cards was treasured by everyone. Jody loved her home, and was an outstanding home decorator and gardener, and she loved to make a wonderful meal for friends and family. Jody especially loved to take photographs, and shared them with everyone, and spent hours putting them into photo albums. Jody loved John Wayne, Roy Rogers, and George Strait, and listened to loud country music any time she got the chance.

Jody adored her boys and all of the grandchildren, and loved to spoil them.

Jody is preceded in death by her mother Bernita Morgan, her father Dean Morgan and her step mother, Ileana Morgan. She is survived by her husband Donald Mitchell, her three sons, Brady (Nan) Meyers of Boise ID; Justin (Kandice) Meyers of Layton, UT; and Ross (Tia) Mitchell of Bozeman, MT. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; Wyatt; Savannah; Jaxon; Ayla; Kaisa; and Emma. She is survived by her sister Mona Kay (Rod) Hill of Pocatello, ID; and her brother Ed Morgan of Pocatello, ID.

There will be a graveside service at the Aberdeen Cemetery, Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon for friends and family will be served at the home of her cousin, LeAnn Dreher in Blackfoot after the service. Per Jody's wishes, there will be a gathering at the Best Western Inn, 1415 Bench Rd, Pocatello, ID at 7:00 p.m. that evening for sharing memories and dancing in her memory.

Jody's family suggests consideration to make memorial contributions to the Jody Morgan Mitchell Memorial Fund has been set up, and donations may be made at any branch of Idaho Central Credit Union.
