Joan Marie Mills

Joan Mills, 90, passed peacefully Saturday April 30th, 2022, of natural causes.

Born November 16th, 1931 to Ona and Louise Roe, Joan Marie was the 3rd of 4 children who also included Dorothy, Thelma, Marion and Keith. Of her original family, only Keith still remains.

Joan graduated Pocatello High School class of 1949. She later met and married John Mills on July 14th, 1951. Ten years later, in 1961, Joan joined Central Christian Church and attended beside her husband, John, who served as an Elder to the congregation. John and Joan would go on together to raise 6 children: Jeffery, Robert, Rodney, Jennifer, William, and Walter until John’s untimely passing in 1979.

In the years since her husband’s passing, Joan remained a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, baking cookies, singing for the Central Christian Church Choir, and spending time with family and close friends.

Joan is survived by her children Jeffrey Mills of Grand Junction, CO; Jenny Jones of Garland, TX; William (Bill) Mills of Twin Falls, ID; Walter Mills of Pocatello, ID; and grandchildren: John, Shawn, Jeff, Sarah, Melanie, Cigi, Megan, Laci, and Colton; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, two sons Robert (Bobby) and Rodney, as well as her grandson Zachary.

A viewing will be held at Central Christian Church, 918 E. Center Street, Pocatello on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Roger Bray. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Joan’s Memorial Fund at Central Christian Church. All funds have been directed to restore and repair the Upper Room where husband John was also memorialized. Burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
