Joan M. Hazen

August 28, 1937 — October 14, 2017

Joan Marilyn Hazen, 80 passed away peacefully in her sleep, October 14, 2017.

Joan was born August 28, 1937 in Hickory Withe, Tennessee, to Floyd A. and Juanita May (Gilmour) Clymer.

Joan married Claude B. Hazen, Jr. on August 1, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Columbus, Ohio shortly after. Joan served as a leader and trainer for many years in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and dedicated her life to her only son Dean who is eternally grateful for her abundant love. Her hobbies included numerous crafts and cake decorating. Upon Dean's departure for college, Joan went to work for the Ohio Department of Health in 1979 as a Clerical Supervisor and retired as a Budget Analyst in 2004.

After 50 years in Columbus, Joan and Claude made a final move to Pocatello, Idaho to be closer to their son in April 2009. They quickly and quietly made Chubbuck their home. Their neighbors knew them to be kind and caring, and they frequently roamed the neighborhood on the golf cart with their Grandpups, Stanley and Ollie. Claude passed away on June 23, 2012 after 53 years of marriage.

Joan is survived by her son, Dean Hazen, and daughter(-in-law), Teresa Belnap-Hazen of Pocatello, Idaho; sisters, Agnes Carney of Oak Lawn, Illinois; Irene Stringer of Terre Haute, Indiana; Betty Robison (Bill) of Brazil, Indiana; Floyd A. Clymer, Jr. (Janice) of Goshen, Indiana; Kenneth E. Clymer of Terre Haute, Indiana; Ronald J. Clymer (Patti) of Raleigh, North Carolina; John E. Clymer of Terre Haute, Indiana; Robert F.
