Jimmie Allen Joslin lost his courageous battle with cancer on November 26, 2012 with his loving wife and precious daughter by his side.
Jim was born October 4th 1939 in Edgerton, Missouri to Juanita and Christy Joslin. He was the 2nd born in a family of 9 children. He was the oldest son, set to lead the way for the other 4 boys. Jim spent his younger years on 6 Mile Road outside of Plattsburg, Missouri on the family farm. When he was six years old his family moved to Pocatello Idaho. Jim graduated from Pocatello High and chose to serve active duty in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany during the Cold War on the border of Czechoslovakia.
After an honorable discharge Jim found his way back to Pocatello. He worked for over 20 years for Skaggs Drug Store. His employment took him on an adventure to New Mexico and Arizona.
Jim decided to move home to Pocatello in 1982. In 1983 Jim met his wife Gale Christensen. They married in Sun Valley and moved there soon after. Jim worked for Continental Fuel for 21 years until his retirement in 2007. This marriage gave Jim an instant family with 3 step children (James, Jessica and Dusty). In 1985 Jim received one of his most precious gifts in life: his daughter Krystal Gale. They eventually moved back to Pocatello, where he finished his career with Continental fuel.
Jim's journeys took him around the world and back. In his youth he drove a Henry J Keiser fondly known as the “Stormin Mormon”. He also owned several Corvettes in his life. He loved fast cars and racing with his brothers. He was a doting older brother to his younger siblings, who adored him. Through his life he had a very strong work ethic and integrity. He worked endless hours to support his family. His grandkids later replaced the love for cars and became his world. He enjoyed spoiling them rotten with candy and ice cream before dinner just to see his daughter squirm. His “big guy” and “little guy” benefitted the most from their papa's spoiling. It's not a secret that they love their Papa dearly. He was a man of few words but his love was shown through his actions.
In his retirement years Jim enjoyed many vacations with his wife Gale. He also enjoyed “brother weekends” at the race tracks watching his brothers race. He spent lots of time meticulously caring for his garden. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and butterfly hunting with his grandson in his backyard. The highlight of most any day was the visits from his two grandsons.
Jim is survived by his wife Gale Joslin, daughter Krystal (Garrett) Lish, step children James and Dusty Heyrend, Jessica Taylor, 8 wonderful grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Shirley Allen, Jerry Joslin, Darrell (Elizabeth) Joslin, Sharon (Mike) Satterwhite, Sue (Lowell) Hawkes, Gary (Tambra) Joslin, Pat (Mark) Garcia and Larry Joslin. He is preceded in death by his mother Juanita Joslin and father Christy Joslin.
Our Husband, Dad, Papa and Brother will be terribly missed. We love him dearly and can't wait until we are reunited with him someday.
