Jillyn "JJ" Joyce Rushton, 20, passed away peacefully March 8, 2017 at her home of natural causes. JJ, as she was fondly called by her family and friends, attended schools at the Academy at Roosevelt Center through the eighth grade and graduated from Pocatello high school in 2014. In high school she enjoyed singing in the senior choir. She was a member of S.L.U.G. (students learning under guidance) which was an advanced science curriculum which really captured her interest in science. After high school she worked several jobs including Atco, Red Lobster, and she especially loved working at the Connor Academy as an educational assistant. She also had an analytical mind and loved working at iRepair taking cell phones apart and fixing them. She had many other interests and was perceptive and intuitive but she had no filter. She was very straightforward and would often speak her mind. She had many "loves" in her life; she loved animals, loved doing crafts like making her own Halloween costumes instead of buying them, loved reading including the works by Louis l'Amour, and the series Sudden by Oliver Strange. She enjoyed writing stories creating characters with their own identities. She loved photography; taking pictures of plants, animals and nature in its own habitat. She was affiliated with many close friends at the Young Single Adult (YSA) Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed game nights and FHE with her peers there. She also played video games and especially loved the Legend of Zelda. JJ is survived by her parents, Rocky and Connie Rushton; siblings, Brionna, Jarom, Mandi, Brooke, and Xander, all of Pocatello; a grandmother, Barbara Joyce Zimmerman, Utah; and deeply loved by many extended family members. She was also survived by her dog, Daisy. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, L. Welby and Juliann Rushton, and Richard Lloyd Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12 noon at the LDS Cedar Hills Ward Chapel, 5425 Bannock Hwy. Pocatello, ID 83204 with a viewing from 10 am 12 noon at the church prior to the services. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204.
