Jerry Winterbottom

Jerry Winterbottom, 78, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 from complications with A Fib. He was born in Glenns Ferry, ID June 16, 1943 to Dora and Tom Winterbottom, moving to Pocatello in 1945.

Jerry was educated in Pocatello where he enjoyed sports and ran track for Pocatello High School. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1961.

Jerry attended electronics school in Denver, Colorado until 1963, he then attended Texas Western in El Paso, Tx for one year. He returned to Pocatello and joined the Union Pacific Railroad as a Switchman in 1967, becoming a conductor in 1973.
Jerry married Vicki L. Hess in March of 1968 and had one daughter Becky Lee. Jerry spent much of his free time fishing, hunting and most of it playing golf. Anything to do in the outdoors he was ready. Snowmobiles, skiing and in the last 14 years it was 4 wheelers, and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki; daughter, Becky Scheer; granddaughter, Jessie Scheer, Boise ID and grandson, Thomas Scheer (Dani Reece) Pocatello, Idaho; one brother, Ralph; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Dora Winterbottom; sister Jody Phippen; brothers, JR Winterbottom and Tom C. Winterbottom.

As per his wishes, there will be no formal services held. A celebration of life is planned for in the future.
