Jerry Edward Higgins

It is with great sadness the Higgins family announces the loss of Jerry Edward Higgins on February 26, 2019 at 3:07 A.M. Jerrys wife Rhonda Rebich Higgins took great care of him throughout a two-year cancer battle and had the great privilege to hold his hand as he took his last breath on Tuesday morning. Jerry had just celebrated his 71 st Birthday. Jerry was one of three children born to Fredrick Willis Higgins and Marjorie Isabelle Harmon Higgins. He was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on February 11, 1948. Jerrys family migrated to California in 1953, where they lived until the family returned to Idaho in 1955. Two of Jerrys best friends in the world included his older brother, James Dean Higgins and twin sister, Jeanette Marie Higgins Miller. Jerry told many stories about his family, which included the three siblings many shenanigans. Jerry graduated from Twin Falls High School in Twin Falls, Idaho in 1966. After graduation, Jerry worked at Herretts Jewelers in Twin Falls where he created several pieces of jewelry for his family and friends and became infatuated with the moon and stars. Jerry joined the Army in 1967 and began his service to his country while acting as a crew chief in the B troop, 3 rd squadron, 17 th Air Calvary which played a vital role in the Vietnam War. In 1968 and 1969 the Flight Medal and Army Commendation Medal was awarded to Jerry for his outstanding service against communist aggression and aerial flight and combat support during the Vietnam War. Jerry was honorably released from service on June 12, 1970. In 1974 Jerry graduated from the College of Business at Pocatello Idahos Idaho State University with a BBA. He then began his life long career as a Certified Public Accountant. His career eventually took him to the City of Pocatello where he dutifully served as the Pocatello City Accountant until he retired in 2015. During his career Jerry also took time to teach CPA courses through local Universities. On May 26, 1973 Jerry married Lois Diane Barney at the reorganized LDS Church in Twin Falls, Idaho. Although the two divorced in 1978, the couple worked together to raise their two children, Corey Higgins and Kristina Higgins-Teeters until Loiss untimely death in November of 1983. On April 29, 1988 Jerry married Rhonda Kay Rebich in a small civil service surrounded by close family and friends. The couple enjoyed many years together sharing in the joy of the theater and family. In July of 2018 the couple was happy to celebrate 30 years together with friends and family at a small summer get together. Throughout his life, Jerry showed a great passion for the theater and all things thespian. In 1965 Jerry became a member of the National Thespian Society after playing a police officer in his first play Pippi Long stocking at Twin Falls OLeary Jr. High School in Twin Falls, Idaho. Jerry went on to act in several plays throughout high school two of which included; The Skin of Our Teeth , 1965, and Miracle Worker in 1966. In 1988 Jerry worked with the Westside Players to restore the Historic Chief Theater in downtown Pocatello, Idaho, where they participated in the production of Jerrys all-time favorite play; Sneaky Fitch, a western comedy in which he played the hilarious and lovable Sneaky Fitch. Jerrys continued passion for theater was evident in his relationship with Pocatellos thespian scene. Jerry was a board member, director, actor and mentor with the Westside Players; actor with Idaho State University Theater; and actor and mentor with the Old Town Actors Studio also of Pocatello, Idaho. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick W. Higgins; mother, Marjorie I. Higgins; and brother, James D. Higgins. Jerry leaves behind his wife, Rhonda K. Rebich-Higgins; son, Corey L. Higgins and daughter- in-law, Lyndy Lee-Higgins; daughter, Kristina Higgins-Teeters and son-in-law, Charles L. Teeters; sister, Jeanette Higgins-Miller and brother-in-law, Robert Miller; nephew, Skyler Higgins (Julie); niece, Penny Higgins (Mike); grandchildren, Thomas Higgins (Toni), Canyon Wayment, Gibson Wayment, Keston Higgins, Marjorie Teeters, Charles E. Teeters, Lyndz Higgins, Walter Teeters, Jeramiah Teeters, and Lillian Teeters. Jerry also leaves behind five great-grandchildren. A wake will be given to celebrate the life of Jerry on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Pocatellos Westside Players playhouse located at 1009 South 2 nd Avenue Pocatello, Idaho 83201.
