Jennifer Lynn Skinner was born on February 11, 1975 in Pocatello, Idaho. After a very long medical battle, Jennifer passed away in her home on July 11, 2024.
Jennifer married the love of her life, Kevin Skinner, on June 12, 1993 two days after her high school graduation. They were married for 31 years at the time of her passing. Jennifer loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends more than life itself. She loved her God and His Son, Yeshua (Jesus), and did her best to live a loving and caring life.
Jennifer was diligent. Jen was an excellent traditional wife and mother. She loved her neighbors and was a very generous person. She took anyone into her home in their time of need and her life long goal was to take care of the poor, needy, homeless, widows and orphans. Jen took the words of the Bible very seriously concerning loving your neighbors. Over the years she took in and cared for a multitude of families and individuals and gave countless others food, clothing, money, rides, bus tickets, and even a tiny home. She was a mother figure to many people.
She loved making yummy recipes and hosting fun dinner parties. Jen always stayed back to make sure everyone was well taken care of when they got back from events or activities. She used her many talents over the years to build a wonderful home for her family. She painted murals on her children’s walls of cartoon characters. She loved running, dancing, and volleyball when she was able. She was an avid motorcycle, snowmobile, and four wheeler enthusiast, and was all about going fast and weaving in and out of trees. She hated the cold and snow, but as long as she was warm, you couldn’t keep up with her. She was an excellent shot with a gun; a natural. She was the perfect balance of a tomboy and a princess.
She was a goofball and a spitfire. She was notorious for mixing up common sayings and phrases that would then become household terms. She was competitive, and often dominated at card games, a favorite evening activity. A family favorite game that she loved was “Oh Heck!”. She was active in her community, church, and social events. She volunteered on many projects and activities throughout her life. A lot of vacations and events were hosted and provided for because of her. There was always an overabundance of food and supplies. Some of her favorite hobbies were drawing, painting, puzzles, and crochet, especially with her family and friends. She would help her children with their school art and science projects, often “helping” so much that they would win. She loved to teach her grandchildren piano and do crafts with them. Her home is filled with elaborate puzzles that she’d done. She would often spend her evenings crocheting. All of the kids and grandkids have blankets and hats that she made, and many were donated to the community.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, Kevin Skinner, her mother and sister, Rosella Harris and Jessica Smith, as well as her pride and joy, four children. She had three sons and a daughter, Stevin Scott Skinner, Kevin Skyler Skinner (Brooke Skinner), Jonathan Michael Skinner, Jayden Alexis Vahsholtz (Bailey Vahsholtz), as well as five grandchildren; Mia Skinner, Finley Skinner, Olive Skinner, Penny Skinner and Thomas Skinner.
A private celebration of life will be held by invitation only. Flowers, cards, and gifts can be sent to Jennifer and Kevin Skinner’s home at 8132 Prospector Hollow Ln, Pocatello, ID 83201.
