Jennifer Dawn Orton, 42, passed away on February 12, 2023.
Jennifer was born on July 19, 1980 in Pocatello, Idaho to Cheryl Jean Orton and James Leon Peron. She was cared for in her first three years by her grandparents, Sandra Lemmon Orton and Kenneth Orton in Pocatello. Then, she and her older sister were adopted by Grandma and Grandpa Orton. Jennifer grew up with relatives who all lived on the Hawthorne-Siphon Road homestead.
Her childhood years were her best years. Jennifer attended Chubbuck Elementary School followed by Hawthorne Junior High School, and graduated from Highland High School. School was always difficult for Jennifer. Junior high years contained some unbearable deaths, which she always took personally. In her high school years, she tried as best as she could in every situation, even in graduating from Highland High.
Jennifer was born with fetal alcohol syndrome and endured many complications that affected her physical and mental health.
Jennifer was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but eventually transitioned to attending Gate City Christian Church. Jennifer was limited in her hobbies and interests due to her struggles with fetal alcohol syndrome.
Jennifer is survived by pre-adopted family; her brothers, Kent (Tammy) Orton of Meridian, Idaho, Paul Orton of Hardy, Arkansas, and Robert Orton of Pocatello, Idaho. She is preceded in death by sister Jeanie C Orton, adopted father Kenneth J Orton, and biological mother Cheryl Jean Orton.
As per Jennifer's request, there will be a Celebration of Life Picnic held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 1 pm to 5 pm at Bicentennial Park on Abraham Street in Chubbuck, Idaho. Catering will be provided by Gate City Christian Church. Please join family and friends to celebrate the love and light Jennifer brought to our lives. In lieu of flowers, Jennifer had asked that anyone who is able, to please make a donation to the Humane Society in her remembrance. She loved her cats and had a genuine love and concern for all cats.
The family would like to extend special thanks to any and all who took the time to help Jennifer. It couldn’t have been easy, but deep down, she appreciated all who befriended her, extended a loving hand of acceptance, and love, especially her family. They would also like to thank Julie, Gloria, Anna and Eric, and all those who cared for Jennifer at Portneuf Medical Center these past few weeks. It is so appreciated.
Memories and condolences may be shared under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
