Jennie Lee Carroll McCormick, aged 88, of Pocatello, ID, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 17, 1936, in Paul, ID, Jennie was the daughter of Joseph Carroll and Jocy Preston Miller. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Donald LeRoy McCormick, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years until his passing in 2007.
Jennie’s vibrant spirit and warm personality endeared her to everyone she met. Known for her love of socializing, meticulous organization, and adventurous spirit, she embraced every opportunity to connect with others and explore the world. Her passions flourished during Donald’s military service, as they lived in Japan, Germany, and numerous bases across the United States. At each new posting, Jennie was quick to join the NCO Wives Club, building lasting friendships and creating a sense of community wherever she went.
After Donald’s retirement, they continued their adventures as “snowbirds,” traveling together in their RV and spending winters in the California desert. Jennie was an active member of the Rolling Russets and Travelin’ Sams RV clubs, and she brought her organizational skills and enthusiasm to New Knowledge Adventures (NKA). As chairman of the NKA Travel Committee, Jennie planned and led excursions ranging from half-day outings to weeklong adventures, enriching the lives of countless participants.
Jennie also had a remarkable talent for crafting, creating stunning quilts and intricate crocheted doilies that will be treasured by her family and friends for years to come.
Jennie is survived by her children: Steven McCormick (Debbie), Ernest McCormick (DeAnn), and Jocy McCormick; her grandchildren: Eli McCormick (Miriam), Jessica Bergen (Jason), Adam McCormick, Chris McCormick (Hilary), David McCormick, Andrew McCormick (Kelly), Heather Pack (Jason), and Megan McCormick; sisters, Patricia Devenberg and Linda (Jake) Ellis; and 10 great-grandchildren.
