Jeffrey “Jeff” Garth Spackman, 65, passed away on April 6, 2025. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho on July 18, 1959.
Jeff graduated from Pocatello High School, class of ‘77. He started a career with the Union Pacific Railroad in Pocatello in 1977 then they all moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1997. He moved back to Pocatello in 1998, then to Umatilla, Oregon in 1999, Nampa, Idaho in 2003, and moved back to Pocatello, Idaho in 2008 to finish a career with the railroad. Jeff then retired and enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends.
Jeff owned and operated CJ’s Sprint N Shine Inc. with his little brother Corey. “Just a lonely boy from Pocatello and moved all the way up to the Harrinman Dispatch Center in 1997.”
Jeff married Karen Spackman on October 20, 1992. He belonged to the Machinist Union, IAMA ARASA, later merged into the IMA.
Jeff loved classic cars, collecting NASCAR, Railroad, and other old memorabilia. He loved the Oregon coast, especially Rockaway Beach. His family and friends were the things he would always drop everything for to make sure they were taken care of.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Karen Spackman of Pocatello, Idaho; older sister, Nancy Persinger of Moscow, Idaho; son, John Michael White of Pocatello, Idaho; son, J.J. Hardcastle of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Scott Carpenter of West Valley, Utah; son, Edward Spackman of Pocatello, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Garth, Elaine, Corey, grandma and grandpa, cousins, aunts and uncles.
