Jeffery Leo Van Sickle

September 6, 1972 — April 3, 2025

Pocatello

Jeffery Leo Van Sickle, 52, was born on September 6, 1972, to Leo Van Sickle and Carolyn Snooks Mumme in Pocatello, Idaho, and passed away on April 3, 2025, in his hometown of Pocatello.

Jeff was born and raised in the Pocatello area, attending elementary, junior high, and high school locally. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1991. Jeff was a very athletic and active young man—a truly gifted athlete. He pitched in Little League Baseball and went to the playoffs for the Little League World Series. He also loved football, playing as a running back for Pocatello High School and contributing to back-to-back state championships in 1990 and 1991.

Jeff continued to share his passion, knowledge, and love for sports by coaching soccer, baseball, softball, and football for his children and many other youths in the Pocatello area. His legacy will live on through the countless players he mentored and his beloved children. Jeff was competitive, passionate, and determined, but above all, he always emphasized the importance of having fun.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sacramento, California, where he shared his deep love for the gospel and the Savior. Jeff had a remarkable ability to make people feel special and valued. His heart was kind, and he never wanted anyone to feel left out. He truly embodied Christlike love and touched countless lives.

On Valentine's Day in 1995, Jeff married his high school sweetheart, Angela Andrew. They shared a love like no other and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Together they had four beautiful children, Makenzie, Tyson, Andrew, and Madison, each one the light and joy of Jeff’s life. He loved watching them succeed, perform, and thrive in all they did.

The true highlights of Jeff’s life were his grandchildren. They were the absolute joys of his heart. Mak Eric and Bostyn Madeleen lit up his world, and he adored every moment spent with them. Whether it was playing, laughing, or just being near them, Jeff's love for his grandkids was endless and pure.

Jeff graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. He had a strong passion for computers and was incredibly knowledgeable in his field. He worked in the IT department at Farmers Insurance for 23 years as an applications developer. He was also the co-owner of Geeks Guild LLC, where he prioritized and deeply valued his clients.

Jeff loved life! He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan—win or lose. He cherished time spent swimming with his kids and grandson, Mak. He was an avid moviegoer, hot chocolate drinker, turkey fryer, grill master, bubble bath taker, and proud computer geek. He will be deeply missed.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Makenzie (Eric) Schultz, Tyson (Megan) Van Sickle, Andrew Van Sickle, and Madison Van Sickle; bonus sons, Benny, Braxton, and Bodyn Andrew; grandchildren, Mak Eric, and Bostyn Madeleen; father, Leo (Mary) Van Sickle of American Falls, Idaho; brothers, Kenneth (Andrea) Van Sickle of Nevada, Brad (Amanda) Van Sickle of Nampa, Idaho, Jeremy Mumme of Nampa, Idaho, and Brian Mumme of Pocatello, Idaho; and sister, Connie Greening of Maryland.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Mumme; stepfather, Marvin Mumme; father- and mother-in-law, Benny and Madaleen Andrew; and grandparents, Charles and Corrine Snooks, and Glenn and Mickey Van Sickle.
