Jeaniva Ninfa Comacho Langston, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024.
Jeaniva was born on November 5th, 1944, in Harlingen, Texas to Miguel Comacho and Bartola Villanueva. When Jeaniva was a toddler, her parents separated and her mother later married Mario V. Aleman, who raised her as his own. As a child, Jeaniva’s family worked as traveling migrant harvesters, picking cotton and potatoes, amongst other produce, and sometimes sleeping under the harvesting trucks. Eventually the family settled in Tyhee, Idaho and lived on the DeKay farm. Jeaniva often spoke of the tiny home that the family lived in and using the window as a refrigerator during the winter. After graduating from Highland High School, she attended cosmetology school in Concord, California. While in Concord, she met Robert “Bob” Langston at a skating rink and the two were married in 1965 at Queen of all Saints Catholic Church.
Married life for Jeaniva and Bob included traveling throughout the United States with Bob’s ironworker job. They lived for several years in Crown Point, Indiana and purchased their final home in Chubbuck, Idaho in the late 1980s. Being a homemaker was very important to Jeaniva. She took pride in cooking for her family and keeping her home in order. Her cosmetology training was put to use giving her children, husband, and some of her siblings perms and haircuts. The Langston home was always open to visitors and was a welcome place for her children’s friends to hang out. Jeaniva also enjoyed visiting with her hair stylists at Nathan Layne Institute, her nail technician Anestasia, restaurant staff at several Pocatello/Chubbuck locations, and shopping with her friend “Linda Linda”. Her hobbies included crocheting, writing in her journals, and adding to her cookbook and Wonder Woman collections.
Jeaniva was a devout Catholic and happily shared her faith in God. The family attended St. Anthony’s Church in Pocatello, Idaho and spoke fondly of Father LaChance and Father Henry.
Jeaniva is survived by her children David (Debbie) Langston, Theresa (Rand) Laird, Lisa Langston-Cassell, Phillip (Dawn) Langston, Cristina (Robert Snover) Langston, and Crystal (Richard) Baugh; her siblings Lupe (Frank) Llorente, Rosie (Benny) Gonzalez, Teresa (Reyes) Gonzalez, and Mario Aleman Jr.; 21 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Langston, her parents Bartola and Mario Aleman, her father Miguel Comacho, her daughter-in-law Sandra Langston, her siblings Frank (Ernestine) Garza, Manuel (Maria) Camacho, Gilbert (Linda) Camacho, Miguel (Teresa) Camacho, Juanita (Juan) Armenta, infant sister Beatrice, infant twin sisters; and grandchildren lost to miscarriage and stillbirth.
