Jean Wynn Stratten, 87, passed away in her home on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was born May 26, 1926, to Jack and Pearl Wynn in Watonga, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of 10 children. In 1932 at the age of 6 she moved with her parents to Pocatello, Idaho.
Jean graduated from Pocatello High School in 1945. She worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant, the National Biscuit Company, Woolworths, Bistline's Hardware Store, the Bannock Hotel, Halliwell Drug and for Saga Foods at Idaho State University before retiring.
She met her husband, Walt, while working at the Naval Ordinance Plant. They went for a motorcycle ride on their first date. On November 30, 1945, they were married in Pocatello and remained husband and wife for 65 years.
Jean's life was full of family. She was happiest when she was visiting with and helping her parents, brothers and sisters, cousins, second cousins, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was extremely difficult for her to lose so many that were so close to her over the years, particularly her husband Walt.
Along with family, Jean and Walt enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, vacationing with their children near Macks Inn, and later in life taking trips across the country with other retirees. They were proud of the appearance and upkeep of their home of 53 years.
Jean and Walt sacrificed much to ensure the health, happiness and education of their children, Monica and Jeff. She loved them dearly, along with her grand and great grandchildren. While Jean had strong and stubborn opinions about what were the best life decisions to make, she always supported them no matter what path they took.
She is survived by; her daughter, Monica Stratten of Pocatello; son, Jeff Stratten of Boise; grandson, Micah and his wife Jessica of Idaho Falls; granddaughter, Whitney and her husband Aaron of Pocatello; great grandsons, Aero and Elijah and great granddaughter Taylor; as well as her dog, Phoebe.
She was preceded in death by; her parents, Jack and Pearl; brothers, Harley, Wilbur, William, Jess and Leo; sisters, Wreatha, Alma, Rita and Grace; and her husband, Walt.
