Janice "Jan" Watson

Janice "Jan" Watson, 89, passed away July 9, 2015 at her home. She was a remarkable wife and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jan was born September 13, 1925 to Leland and Hortense Evans in Arimo, Idaho where she lived and attended school. She was the 3 rd of 7 children and helped on the family farm. While working on the family farm she met and married her husband, Sterlin Watson. They were married for 71 years and raised their four daughters, LaRue, Brenda, Debbie and Shelley, in Pocatello. Once her daughters were in school, she continued her education. She enjoyed a vibrant, thirty year career in cosmetology. She worked as a beautician at the Bannock Hotel Beauty Salon, taught cosmetology at Idaho State University and taught at and managed the Pocatello Beauty Academy. She volunteered at Bannock and Portneuf Medical Centers for over twenty years, loved reading, crocheting and playing cards. Jan and her husband enjoyed their horses, raising calves and a dog named Schultz. They rode motorcycles and snowmobiles and camped with their family. She loved traveling with her daughters and friends and had traveled to several countries and throughout the U.S. She is survived by her husband, Sterlin; daughters, LaRue Hall (Jim Phelps), Brenda Gates, Debbie (Jon) Hales and Shelley (Jim) Allen and several grand and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, a son-in-law, John Hall, and a grandson, Jeff Hall. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500 with a viewing for one hour prior to services. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 6-7:30 P.M. also at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Marsh Center Cemetery on S. Marsh Valley Road in Arimo.
