Janet Ellen Gudger

Janet Ellen Mathews Gudger, 74, passed away peacefully in hospice care in Yakima, WA in the morning of March 13, 2018. Janet was the fifth child of eight, born to Helen Parr Mathews and Howard Leslie Mathews. She was born in Pocatello and grew up at the family ranch in Blackrock, Idaho. She attended Pocatello High School. Janet married Don Gudger and they had three boys together; Don, Howard, and Jimmy. They later divorced. She had a long relationship (25 years) with Charlie Holcomb. Charlie and Janet were together until he passed. Janet worked at Lamb Weston, AMI, and Ore Ida Foods. She moved to Yakima in 2004 to be closer to her sons and lived there until her passing. Janet enjoyed country drives, gardening, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved receiving visits from all of her family, but highly enjoyed visits from Andrea, Jessica, Camille and Becky. They were the light of her life and she was so proud of them! Janets greatest loss was the accidental death of her son Jimmy, at the age of five. It is wonderful she has gone home to be with him once again. Janet is survived by one brother, Lloyd Mathews; two sons, Don and Howard; and granddaughters, Andrea, Jessica, Camille, and Becky. She is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Sonny, Darrel, David, Kenneth, Diana, and Keith. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Services will be on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 11 am also at Colonial Funeral Home, with a viewing for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
