Jan Meredith Cornet, 68 passed away peacefully following an extended illness at his home July 30, 2015.
Jan was born January 26, 1947 in Casper, Wyoming to Clifford Victor and Genevieve Georgia Chapman Cornet. He grew up in the Casper area and graduated from Central Wyoming College with a Degree in Business Management.
Jan married CeElla Francis on October 25, 1970 in Casper. He was a scratch baker and loved what he did. His profession took their family to several communities and many people were fortunate to have had the privilege to savor the fruits of his labors. He baked professionally for over 40 years and his daughters have cherished memories of early mornings in the bakery, sleeping on flour sacks and waking to the smell and taste of fresh baked donuts.
Jan was a participating member of the Heritage Baptist Church; he also took great pride and honor with his involvement with the Portneuf Valley HOG group. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his Harley Davidson and time spent with his family and friends.
Jan will be dearly missed by all who knew him, mostly however by his wife and family: CeElla Cornet, Pocatello; Kimberlee Garcia, Pocatello; Genevieve (Jeremy) Thomas, Blackfoot; Mandy Tate, Riverton, WY; Sheila (Drake) Lopez, Casper, WY; Drake Cornet, Spokane, WA; as well as 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Jan was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Genevieve Georgia Cornet; a brother, Clifford Pierre Cornet; sisters, Crystal Griffis and Cathy Cooper.
A memorial open house will be held in his honor from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road.
