James "Ted" Spillett

July 31, 1935 — November 7, 2014

Ted Spillett, our loving husband, father, and Papa, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2014 at his home in Pocatello.

Ted was born on July 31, 1935 in American Falls and is the son of Ray and Grace (Barnard) Spillett of Rockland. He graduated from Rockland High School and later married his high school sweetheart, Eva Beth Udy, on June 15, 1956. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 14, 1964.

Ted and Eva Beth lived in Pocatello where Ted was a carpenter. He worked on many major construction projects in the area throughout his career. He also enjoyed working from sunup to sundown on the family farm in Rockland with his dad and brother, Bob.

Ted served in various positions in the LDS 26th Ward. He and his best friend, Byron Robinson, were faithful home teachers to many friends. He loved attending rodeos, watching football and basketball games, and supporting his grandchildren in their pursuits. But more than anything else, he loved staying at home, being with his family, and taking care of his yard and house.

Papa was the life of the party and brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. We will miss hearing his sweet whistle, sharing an ice-cold Coke, and seeing his twinkling blue eyes. He taught us that the simple, little things in life are the important things.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Grace Spillett, and by his only brother, Bob (Rae) of Rockland, Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Eva Beth, of Pocatello, ID; his son, Mooney, also of Pocatello, ID; and his daughter, LaNae (Dave) Robinson of Thatcher, ID. He is the grandfather of David (Cori) Spillett, Jason (Amber) Spillett, Matt (Fawn) Robinson, Beth Robinson, and Sally (Jared) Rindlisbacher. He is survived by eight great-grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the loving hands of Alliance Hospice Care and their sweet nurses: Kelli, Nicole, Jordan, Lisa, Michelle, Teresa, and Ronda.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pocatello West Stake Center, 4333 Hawthorne Road, Pocatello, ID, with a viewing prior to the funeral at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a viewing the night before on Monday, November 10, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W.
