James "J.W." William Gerard

James William "J.W." Gerard, 35, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017, due to injuries sustained in an auto accident. He was born on November 3, 1981 in Pocatello to James Clyde and Ileta Gale Gerard. He was the second of six kids and grew up in Pocatello. J.W. enjoyed family gatherings and playing with his cousins. He participated in Boy Scouts throughout his youth. He received his Eagle Scout Award in 1995. He had a total of 37 merit badges and 3 palms. J.W. played football in high school, graduating from Pocatello High School in 2000. After high school, he moved to Wyoming for two years working several vocational jobs. He then returned to Pocatello where he sold vacuums. J.W. was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several leadership positions in the youth organization. He enjoyed playing cards, games and disc golf. He loved the outdoors, hiking, fishing and camping; he especially loved winter camping. J.W. is survived by his sisters, Letitia (Mike) Morgan, Katy, TX, Erica Eileen Gerard, Bozeman, MT, Andra Cecil Gerard, Pocatello, ID; brothers, Tyler Clyde Gerard, Pocatello, ID, and Britton Clay Gerard, Idaho Falls, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents, James C. Gerard, and Ileta Wallis Gerard; and grandmother, Cecil Gerard Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 2 pm at the LDS Chapel, 655 S. Grant Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204, with a visitation for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial to follow at the Fielding Memorial Cemetery, 4900 S. Yellowstone Hwy, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
