James "Jim" Walker Woodland

December 6, 1938 — March 11, 2018

James Walker ‘Jim' Woodland, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 11, 2018, due to respiratory complications. Jim was born December 6, 1938, in Pocatello, Idaho, to James Henry Woodland and Edith Ione Walker Woodland.

He graduated from Pocatello High School and LDS seminary in 1957. He was then called to the Australian mission. Upon returning from his mission he married his sweetheart Julia Fay McSpadden in the Idaho Falls temple on August 4, 1961.

They made their home in Tyhee, Idaho where they raised six beautiful girls and two great boys. He worked as the general manager of Parrish Company and ran a successful property management company.
In January 2007 Jim and Julia served a proselyting mission to the Perth, Australia mission. They also served in the Albuquerque, New Mexico mission.

Jim loved spending time with his family fishing, camping, and always had a project to work on. He was loved by many whom he served as a bishop, branch president, and a leader of many auxiliaries. His eight children remember him as being larger than life and someone who would sacrifice much for anyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Julia. He is survived by; his sister Lynette Parkinson, Idaho Falls, his brother William Woodland, Pocatello; his eight children, Jaryce (Brad) Applebury, Bozeman, MT, Janyce (Rod) Eggleston, Pocatello, Jim M. (Heather) Woodland, Pocatello, Jarell (Dewey) Angell, Noblesville, Indiana, Jason (Lisa) Woodland, Pocatello, Julie (Dan) Yates, Rigby, ID, Janae (Steven) Petersen, Blackfoot, ID, Janna (Cliff) Herron, Pocatello; 31 grandchildren, and 12 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the LDS general missionary fund can be made.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the 44th Ward LDS Chapel located on Highway 91 between Reservation and Ballard Roads. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home 211 W. Chubbuck Road and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow services on Saturday in the Mountain View Cemetery.
