James "Jim" K. Kirkland

August 16, 1961 — November 9, 2019

James "Jim" Kelly Kirkland, 58, our loving husband, father, grandpa and brother, passed away in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from a rare autoimmune disease. He was born on August 16, 1961 to Carrolle Darlene and Max Ray Kirkland in Pocatello, Idaho. Jim attended Syringa elementary, Hawthorne jr. high and Highland high school. He then went on to get his GED later in life. Jim was on the Pebble Ski Patrol with his dad, Max, and his brothers, Henry and Mike. He had a passion for painting, crafting and cooking that he acquired from his mom, Darlene. In 1982 Jim met the love of his life, Ronda and her daughter, Alexis. Together they had a son, Keegan in 1986. They were married on June 16, 1988. They then welcomed a daughter, Madison in 1991. Jim worked at ISU as a painter, at Ballard and at numerous other painting companies throughout his life. He loved to play baseball and coach his sons team. He had a love for animals, riding horses, and he was an avid outdoorsman. From hunting the Idaho Mountains to fishing the Idaho water, he always had a smile on his face. He was an ultimate family man and always made sure that he took his kids on all kinds of adventures. He loved going on camping trips and enjoyed playing his harmonicas. Jim truly loved being a grandpa. You would see him with a smile from ear to ear whenever he was with his grandkids. He loved to support them at their sporting events, dance recitals and dress up with them any chance he could. Jim is survived by his brothers, Mike (Lynnette), Henry (Alisa); his wife, Ronda; daughter, Alexis (Mel); son, Keegan (Desirae); daughter, Madison (Kasey); grandkids, Gabe, Justice, Kyson, Orion, Eliza, Macie and Kingston; and many family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darlene and Max; grandparents, Charlotte and Henry Wavra and Ada and Nephi Kirkland. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
