James E. Hook, 85, passed away peacefully at his home with his family surrounding him. He was born June 11th 1928 son of Arthur and Mabel Hook in Pocatello Idaho. He married Betty Morey on June 16, 1956 in Pocatello Idaho. James had two children when he married Betty: their names were Tony and Christina. Then together James and Betty had a son, James A. Hook. James worked at the Pocatello Police Department for 8 years and then later worked at the Pocatello Fire department and retired after 23 years of service. All the while he also ran a paint contracting business for many years. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and more recently he and Betty loved spending their winters in Casa Grande, Arizona. James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Hook, a son, Tony Hook, Pocatello, Idaho, daughter, Christina Kirk, Helena, Montana, and son, James A. ( Debbie) Hook, McCammon Idaho, two sisters, Helen Hill, and Mary (Max) Morris, 5 grandchildren Carrie, Casey, Kayla, Jacob, and Jessica, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Steven James Hook, 1 brother and 1 sister. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday September 13, 2013 at Mountain View Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 until 7 p.m., and also one hour prior to the graveside services at Colonial Funeral Home.
