James Henry Sweitzer, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Idaho State Veterans Home of Pocatello. Jim was born March 12, 1927 in Zions View, PA. He attended a one room school house until the age of 16 when he then joined the United States Army during WWII. After returning home, he met Joan Leader while ice skating at a local ice skating rink. They were later married on September 8, 1951. Jim and Joan had three sons, Stephen, Eric, and Matt. While Joan stayed home raising their sons, Jim worked as a milk man and later as a salesman in the paper industry. Some of his favorite hobbies were chasing rabbits and pheasants with his beagles and hunting white tail deer. After retiring in 1987, Jim and Joan moved to Inkom, Idaho to join their sons and grandchildren. While living in this small community, they met many great friends through the Inkom Community Bible Church. While living in Idaho, Jim became an avid horseshoe player, winning his division in the World Horseshoe Tournament in 2004. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Sweitzer. He is survived by his children, Stephen, Eric (Kris), Matt (Vickie); grandchildren, Sadie (Bobby), Shylo, and Stetson; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Blake; brother, Dale (Maxine); and sister, Rovena. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Inkom Community Bible Church, 251 Grant Ave. Inkom, ID 83245, with Pastor Russ Blair presiding.
