James Firkins Jr, 84, passed away with the comfort of his loved ones on Monday, July 31 2017. He was born on April 12, 1933, in a log cabin on Poplar Street in Pocatello, ID, to James Firkins Sr. and Dorothy M. Drowns Firkins. He married Stella Dokos Firkins on April 4, 1959 in Elko, NV. They had a daughter, Rebecca Lynn, who was the light of his life. Jim worked in construction and a teamster for U.P.R.R. He ran his own business of road construction later. Jim spent 50 years on the Firkins Ranch taking care of many different livestock, breaking and riding horses, being with family, growing a garden, collecting and restoring vintage vehicles, and socializing with his McDonalds and swimming friends. Jim was a friend to all, and never met a stranger. Jim is survived by his wife, Stella, Pocatello; daughter, Rebecca (Jimmie Rebich), Idaho Falls; grandson, Dimitri Rebich (Emily), Boise; granddaughter, Nikka Rebich, Pocatello; son, Ken Speigel, Blackfoot; brother, Richard Firkins (Lori Moore), Pocatello; and sister, Ethel Honeycutt, Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; father, James Sr.; and brother, Harvell. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 4 from 5-7 pm with a Trisagion service starting at 5 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 11 am at the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 518 N. 5th Ave, Pocatello, ID 83201. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Should you desire, donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church at P.O. Box 4567 Pocatello, Idaho 83205.
